Associated Renewable is a leading energy management systems firm. We can provide a variety of energy management solutions to meet the needs companies of various sizes in a variety of sectors.
What is Energy Management?
Energy management is defined as a standalone or combined system designed to promote energy reduction which typically results in energy savings and reduced CO2 emissions output. A typical energy management system employs energy efficiency through efficient products (e.g. efficient lighting, HVAC, boilers, etc.), practices (e.g. turning off the lights, equipment maintenance, etc.) and may combine renewable energy (solar, solar hot water, wind turbines, etc.) used to offset electricity consumption. In best case scenarios, a building, home or company can become “net zero” in terms of their energy use and/or carbon footprint.
Federal Energy Management Program
One of the best examples of energy management has occurred at the Federal U.S. government level, in which comprehensive energy management systems have been implemented through the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) which promotes energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy to further offset energy consumption by implementing energy efficiency and generating electricity onsite, through the use of renewable energy sources such as solar panels, micro wind turbines, or fuel cells. This is one way that the Federal government has elected to be an example for the private sector through demonstrating leadership through responsible clean energy choices. This has also been implemented in order to save tax-payer money through lower energy costs through efficiencies. Clean energy also reduced CO2 emissions while promoting cleaner air away from dirty emissions cause by traditional sources such as burning coal, and natural gas used to fuel electric utilities.
According to a recent study done by McKinsey, it is estimated that $1.2 trillion can be saved through a mere $500 million investment into energy efficiency measures.
Energy Management Systems
A sound energy management system that integrates energy at every given usage point is essential anywhere energy is consumed. It is used for any company, building manager, IT data center--- anywhere energy is consumed, energy efficiency can be implemented through sound energy management or a sound energy management system, regardless of the size or amount of energy being used.
A sound energy management system would include period audits to measure and monitor energy usage after the implemented energy efficiency and/or renewable energy system. Larger companies may use enterprise-wide monitoring software for this purpose, whereas smaller organizations may opt for routine periodic audits. Monitoring helps the companies or building managers stay in compliance with local, state, or federal governmental laws regarding energy consumption. Rather than checking the utility bill, monitoring can help to locate where more efficient energy management can be implemented through new products or behavior modification. Associated Renewable helps its clients stay abreast of changes in laws, maintain compliance through routine periodic audits, and stay current, and more efficient with new generation of technologies that are more energy efficient that the last.
Associated Renewable can be a prime partner and solutions provider for commercial energy management systems by enabling companies to develop and implement a comprehensive energy management plan as part of a strategic plan based on targeted objectives to simply reduce energy usage for cost savings or, to become “net zero” and displace the energy bill (in some cases with carbon credits). Associated Renewable can work with your company’s targeted objective - be it to realize energy and cost savings immediately or to develop milestones towards integrating a comprehensive energy management system over time.
Please refer to our “Energy Audits” and “Benchmarking” sections for more detail on Energy benchmarking and energy audits for consumption measurement purposes, as well as monitoring, are the essential first steps used towards a comprehensive energy management system. Once the consumption benchmark is established and the simple audit (AKA “baseline” audit) is performed, a customized, enterprise-wide energy management program can be designed to maximize cost saving from efficiencies in compliance with local laws. Associated Renewable can help you each step of the way, through this process, and with simple audit, advanced audits, energy monitoring audits, renewable energy consulting and more, for comprehensive energy management.
